Our Laundry Room Floor : AquaGuard Amstel Laminate

Hello Sunshine! Today I am so excited to share with you our laundry room floor! It's finished! We chose a premium laminate flooring called AquaGuard in Amstel. It is a water-resistant wood based laminate that looks and feels like the real thing. The laundry room is off our back porch and the boys run in and out with cleats on that are riddled with dirt and we needed something thats durable.

After choosing a floor it took us awhile to actually commit to the project. DIY is not for the faint of heart. What was holding us back aside from shear time was removing the appliances, especially the water heater.

We knew we needed a good solid weekend to work on the floor. Weeks prior my husband removed all the baseboards, so that was out the way. Finally getting tired of the many boxes of flooring cluttering the hallway I, without notice, rented an appliance dolly and it was game on.

The appliances were removed and by the time the water heater had drained my husband had to go to work so I was left to do the floor myself. I felt prepared, I had read the packaging instructions a few times and looked at their illustrations. Lets just say that no where in the instructions did it say to stagger the seams nor did it dawn on me so I laid a very precise and symmetrical pattern. Like with tile.

When it was all over and done the floors looked amazing but I was missing that random flooring pattern like in our solid wood floors throughout the house and boy did that bother me. There was no going back and I had to eat that mistake. I have since let that go but sometimes when I walk in there it crosses my mind briefly.

Installing our AquaGuard Flooring

The floors look a thousand times better than before! I really love how well they coincide with our existing hardwoods. Our next project for the laundry room is to build a shelf over the washer dryer. To see more of our laundry room transformation click here.

I do want to give a big shout out to the following people: my local HD and Brian, in tool rentals, for allowing me to cut my last row on their tablesaw, in store free of charge; Centational Girl and Floor & Decor for making this possible with their giveaway! Thank you all!

See ya soon!
