Fall Decorating

Today I wanted to share with you how I styled our living room for fall. Lately I've been drawn to a minimalist approach to design, where less is more. I limited myself to only adding a few subtle hints of fall into my normal decor. Not wanting to spend a ton of money, I tried to use what I had on hand to keep cost down.

I love how the small additions of this season changes the feel of the room. It went from the cool blues of summer to cozy and earthy. I love earth tones and I can get a little bit carried away with them, hence all the dark wood tones in my house.

Our Fall Living Room & Entryway
I added my last years wreath to our console table along with a lot of the items I used in my summer entryway vignette. I set my son J's painted footprints, I made when he was a week old, on top a stack of books we love.
Since I am currently working on my banker chairs I switched them out with a bench I had sitting at the foot of my bed. Another dark wood tone piece of furniture. I have a problem, I know, but I can't help myself. Dark wood tones are my weakness.
One of the only things I purchased, besides new pillow covers, was this playful oversized jacks piece. I couldn't pass it up while browsing Marshall's a few weeks back.
I changed the knobs back to the original ones but I jazzed them up with a touch of gold. I have officially jumped on the gold bandwagon! The studded velvet pillow is from West Elm, I got it on sale for around $10.
The button pillow comes from non other than Lowe's. Did you know they sell cute pillow covers? I got this one for $7! Now that's a steal! Do you spy my other gold addition to my living room?
I will be back tomorrow to talk about my gold table transformation. Do you decorate for the seasons or for the holidays or both? See ya soon!

    1. Thanks Katrina! My husband comes home and shakes his head when he sees a new pillow. What he doesn't know is that I only by the covers now which makes them less expensive!
