Christmas Nativity Mantel 2012

One of the first places I decorate in my home for the holidays is our mantel. I use this term loosely as we don't technically have a mantel. I decorate a buffet turned entertainment center and a console table as my mantel.

I decorated our entertainment center this year with our nativity scene. I added two artificial Christmas trees I got several years ago from an after-Christmas sale at Michaels. I added the 3 golden candles and silver candle sticks from my Thanksgiving tablescape. I also dressed it up with a table-runner and fresh cut greenery. I just about put greenery on every surface of our living room. :)

This nativity scene is very special to me. My grandma gave this to me about 4 years ago. I grew up seeing this same nativity beautifully displayed at her house. It was great learning that my grandmother and my father actually made this set in 1973! It still looks the same after so many years. This set includes several other pieces but my space won't allow for the set in its entirety.
Stockings are usually 'hung by the chimney with care' but we hang ours on our console table. You might have noticed them when I showed you our advent calendar.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! See ya soon!

  4. Oh, the nativity is just beautiful! And even better that it's passed down from your grandmother- I love sentimental decor : ) I bought little H his first nativity set and while it's only a little Fisher Price set, it already means so much to us. Beautiful entertainment center!
